Old Bergen Lager

A Classic Canadian-style Dry Lager

Bitterness is distinctly subdued and a slight malty aroma effervesces from the moderate foaminess with just a slight hint of sweetness. It is a golden color with light aromas of malt and grain. It has a pleasant hoppy bitterness and a clean crisp finish.

Old Bergen Lager is made in small batches and is handcrafted using pure 2-row barley grown and malted in Biggar, Saskatchewan, premium hops from the Pacific NW, deep well water and our proprietary yeast. It is placed in cold storage (lagered) for a minimum of 35 days resulting in a clean, crisp, smooth tasting beer. This is a refreshing lager beer that pairs well with medium to sharp cheeses, steaks, spicy sausages, grilled vegetables, and robust pasta dishes.

Old Bergen Apple

A beer you can have with Ice

Not far off from throwing apple pie in a blender, or at least apple pie filling - sweet, cooked apple flesh and some apple skin - apple juice, apple cider, and apple sauce - a light touch of spice, particularly cinnamon, but not as much as I thought from the aroma - sweet, light, pale malts, like pie crust sprinkled with sugar.

Old Bergen 1845 PILS

The heritage and tradition of hand-crafting the worlds finest beers dates to 1845 in the Midwest.  The “all-malt” pilsner remains true to its name using only 100% 2 row brewers pale malts following the old-world European traditions of brewing.  A perfect balance of flavors is achieved by procuring the exact blend of malt and hops and fermenting the brew with our proprietary yeast. A truly classic old-world pilsner beer.

Tasting Notes

A truly classic old-world pilsner beer;  the 1845 Pils starts with a light malt aroma followed by a floral hop scent.  The crisp, clean and well-rounded taste leaves just a subtle touch of bitterness that rolls lightly on the sides of the tongue and is refreshed and cleansed with each sip.

Cheese and Food Pairing

1845 “All Malt” Pils will pair especially well with spicy meat soups and stews, sautéed vegetables and spicy Asian foods.  Gouda cheese would be a good choice to serve with this beer.

Tasting Notes

Old Bergen Swiss Amber is a well balanced, full flavored, amber ale. At first glance, this reddish-copper ale looks strong and heavy, but one sip proves that it’s as smooth as silk. It has a rich, malty body with a pleasant caramel character derived from the specialty caramel malt. It has a complex hop aroma, with a hint of floral and citrus which comes from a combination of hops. It pours a rich, creamy head with a fine lace. The light fruitiness, characteristic of ales, is derived from a proprietary yeast strain.

Cheese and Food Pairing

The straightforward caramelized malt and hop balance in Swiss Amber enables it to pair with a wide variety of food items, including anything that comes off the grill, particularly grilled or braised poultry, sausages, and pizza. Romano, Mozzarella and Parmesan Cheeses are a good match.
